NEW HAVEN, Conn. – This weekend, the Yale coed sailing team is travelling to Annapolis and Boston for the Graham Hall Team Race at the U.S. Naval Academy in and the Geiger Team Race at MIT. This is the first weekend they will be able to team race this spring, as extreme weather over the last two weeks in New England caused several regatta cancellations.
At the Naval Academy, the Bulldogs are returning all but one member of last year's national championship winning team. Four skippers and four crews – mostly upperclassmen with the exception of one freshman crew and a sophomore skipper – are signed up to compete. At MIT, three skippers and three crews will sail.
Representing the Bulldogs at Navy will be skippers seniors Ian Barrows and Mitchell Kiss, junior captain Malcolm Lamphere and sophomore Nic Baird with crews seniors Natalya Doris, Chandler Gregoire and Clara Robertson and freshman Graceann Nicolosi.
Heading to MIT are skippers juniors Christopher Champa and Casey Klingler and freshman Dylan DiMarchi. Crewing will be senior Amelia Dobronyi, junior Caroline Colwell and freshman Chrissie Klingler. Klingler will serve two roles – skipper and crew – this weekend.
Racing begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Follow results at http://scores.collegesailing.org/s17/.
