The Bulldogs pounded out 17 hits and Scott Politz went six innings to pick up his second win of the season in a 13-3 victory at Stony Brook on Wednesday afternoon.

Dai Dai Otaka went four for four, scored three runs and drove in two more.  Otaka was one of seven Bulldogs to have at least two hits.

Yale (2-3) took the lead with a four-run third inning.  Richard Slenker (2 hits) led off with a single and scored on a two-out double by Derek Brown.

Tom Ruddy laid down a bunt single to move Brown to third. Andrew Herrera followed with a triple to score Brown and Ruddy, and Otaka capped the rally with a double to score Herrera to give Yale a 5-2 lead.

Politz settled down after surrendering a run in each of the first two innings.  In his six inning effort, Politz allowed three runs, struck out five and walked two.

The Yale bullpen combined for three scoreless innings.  Tyler Duncan, Alex Stiegler and Mason Kukowski pitched the seventh, eighth and ninth respectively to close out the game.

Brown broke the game open in the ninth with a three-run triple.  The Bulldogs scored eight runs in the inning.

It was the third game of the season with 10 hits or more for the Bulldogs.
