Comeback Falls Short at Wofford

The Bulldogs rallied in the ninth to score a run and load the bases before falling at Wofford on Friday night in Spartanburg, S.C. 

Wofford tonight defeated Yale, 3-2, in the opener of a four-game series.  Yale dropped to 3-8 on the season.  

Captain Richard Slenker went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored for Yale, while Tim DeGraw had two hits to increase his team-leading season total to 13.

Down 3-1 entering the ninth, the Bulldogs rallied.  Slenker led off with a walk and Alec Hoeschel was hit by a pitch on the final pitch thrown by Adam Scott, who started for Wofford.  

Griffin Dey reached on a fielder's choice and Slenker advanced to third.  Alex Stiegler singled to center to score Slenker to cut the deficit to 3-2.  

Alex Boos was hit by a pitch to load the bases, before Jordan Accetta retired the next to batters to earn his fourth save of the season.

Eric Brodkowitz (0-1) started for Yale and went seven innings.  He allowed two runs, five hits and struck out eight.

The teams will play a doubleheader in Spartanburg, S.C., tomorrow beginning at 2 p.m.
