Scott Politz earned his team-leading fourth victory of the season for the Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.
Politz shutdown Holy Cross in a complete-game, 7-1 victory in game one of a doubleheader split for Yale. In a dominant performance, Politz struck out eight and allowed four hits at Columbia University's Satow Stadium.
Yale took three of four games over the weekend and improved to 8-10 overall.
The Crusaders won the second game 8-7.
After Holy Cross scored an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth, Yale bounced back with at least one run in each of the last three innings of game one.
Otaka delivered an RBI single in the fifth to tie the game and Hoeschel gave Yale the lead in the sixth with a bases loaded sac fly to score Richard Slenker.
Andrew Herrera and Otaka had back-to-back doubles to lead off the seventh. Later in the inning, Slenker drew a bases loaded walk to give Yale a 4-1 lead. Harrison White, Hoeschel and Tom Ruddy also had runs batted in.
Wanger's two-run single gave Yale a 3-2 lead in the third ,and his two-run homer in the fifth scored Stiegler to give Yale a 7-4 lead.
Holy Cross (5-14) scored once in the sixth and three in the eighth to take the lead. Kumar Nambiar took the loss for Yale.
