    Yale nearly pulled off a second straight signature win to open the season. In fact, the Bulldogs probably deserved a better fate against Memphis. Instead, the Tigers escaped with a 109-102 double overtime victory before a very nervous crowd of 14,656 at FedEx Forum, spoiling a very strong effort from the Bulldogs.

    Yale won’t have to travel nearly as far for its second game of the season. After opening with an impressive 76-59 win over California in the Pac-12 China Game in Shanghai last weekend, the Bulldogs will have a much shorter flight to Tennessee to meet Memphis on Saturday. Tipoff at FedEx Forum is slated for 8 p.m. EST and video is available on ESPN3.

    Our amazing journey to China has come to an end. The team arrived back on campus late Sunday night with a lifetime of memories. And also a victory – 76-59 over California on Saturday. This trip, though, was about more than basketball. It was about learning Chinese culture, history and business and sharing with the Chinese citizens the value of education and athletics.

The team arrived on Sunday night and leading up to the game will be educated about the business, history and culture of China. Periodically during the trip, the student-athletes will share their experiences.

    A big third quarter lifted Yale to a 93-84 victory over a Chinese University All-Star team in an exhibition game before a big crowd at the Suzhou New District Cultural & Sports Center. The Bulldogs, who are in China preparing for Saturday’s season opener against Cal in the Pac-12 China Game, outscored the Chinese All Stars 37-21 in the third quarter.

    The Yale men’s basketball team is taking a trip of a lifetime to kick off the 2018-19 season. The Bulldogs are headed to Shanghai, China, to meet the University of California in the Pac-12 China Game on Nov. 10 at noon [Nov. 9 at 11 p.m. in New Haven] at Baoshan Arena. ESPNU will air the game live.

    The Ivy League preseason prognosticators once again expect Yale to be right in the thick of the race for the Ivy title. The Bulldogs received one first-place vote and were selected third with 115 points in the annual preseason poll, released today.
  • Bulldogs To Host Free Clinic For New Haven Public School Students

    The Yale men’s basketball team is proud to host New Haven Community Day on Sunday Oct. 28 at the Lanman Center inside Payne Whitney Gym. The Bulldogs will put on a free clinic from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for New Haven public school children and their parents. The clinic is open to children in grades 6 and under.
  • Trips To Duke & China Highlight 2018-19 Schedule

    It will be another busy season of travel for the Yale men’s basketball team. The Bulldogs will head to all parts of the country during non-conference play, including south to face Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium and Miami at American Airlines Arena. There are also trips to the Midwest (Memphis), the West Coast (Cal State Northridge) and Northern New England (Vermont). And, oh by the way, the season kicks off with a journey to the other side of the world to face California in the Pac 12 China Game in Shanghai.

    James Jones, The Joel E. Smilow, Class of 1954 Head Coach of the Yale men’s basketball team, will welcome five talented newcomers in 2018-19. Matthue Cotton, Eze Dike, Michael Feinberg, Isaiah Kelly and Jake Lanford all bring strong credentials.
