Li Wang '17 Shoots Incredible 60 at Macdonald Cup

NEW HAVEN, Conn.-The Yale men's golf team (+13) is in eighth place after the completion of 36 holes at the Macdonald Cup.  The B-team (+7) is in a tie for fourth.  Rain caused delays in play yesterday, so the second round was finished early this morning.

The Bulldogs had an absolutely incredible day from senior captain Li Wang (-7).  After shooting a 73 in his opening round, Li came back with what may be a NCAA D1 record, ten-under, 60, in round two.  He birdied five holes on both the front and back nine in what would finish as a clean round.  Li also came within about a foot of a 59, as his chip on the mammoth 18th stopped just short of the hole.  Although a 59 would have put him in almost unchartered territory, he will happily settle for the unconfirmed lowest round in NCAA D1 history.

Freshmen Jordan Weitz (-1) and junior Henry Cassriel (+1) also had strong days on the Course at Yale.  Jordan shot an impressive 67 in his second round, while Henry displayed formidable consistency with his 71-70 day.

Stirling University (+1), who came all the way from Scotland, are leading the tournament with the final round of play coming today.  Results can be found here.
