Bulldogs Host Mustangs Friday Night

First Look at 2017-18 Squad

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The 2017-18 edition of Yale men's hockey gets unveiled Friday night at the Whale when the Bulldogs host Western Ontario in an exhibition contest at 7.  The contest against the Canadian University airs live on the Ivy League Network.

This event is a ticketed but free one, where the athletics department is testing its system for the regular season, but there is no actual charge for admission.

The Elis, led by captain Ryan Hitchcock, take on the Mustangs in preparation for the start of the regular season on Oct. 27 at home against Brown. Hitchcock is one of four seniors trying to get the Bulldogs back to the NCAA Tournament, something they accomplished in 2015 and 2016.

This Friday's contest allows Keith Allain '80, Yale's Malcolm G. Chace Head Coach, the ability to dress more players than he can during the regular campaign. That might mean a look at the seven newcomers who joined the squad this fall.

Western, which is in the states for a weekend that includes a Saturday game at Princeton, has skated against one other college team this fall. On Sept. 30, the Mustangs fell at Michigan 10-1.
