Bulldogs Take Top Spot in Inside Lacrosse Poll

Defending National Champs Are Pre-Season No. 1

BALTIMORE, Md. – The team that won the last national title has been ranked No. 1 in the 2019 pre-season poll. Yale, coming off its first NCAA Championship, has been placed atop the Top 25 of Inside Lacrosse's Face-Off Yearbook.

The Bulldogs, who had a school-best 17-3 record and the program's first perfect Ivy slate since 1956, ran the table last May in the NCAAs against UMass, Loyola, Albany and Duke.

Head Coach Andy Shay's new squad returns a pair of All-Americans (M Jack Tigh, D Chris Fake) as well as six All-Ivy League selections, including captain John Daniggelis, A Jackson Morrill, D Robert Mooney, M Joseph Sessa, Tigh and Fake. The Elis also have transfer face-off man TD Ierlan, who earned second-team All-America honors at Albany last spring.

Yale opens its 2019 regular season by hosting No. 22 Villanova on Feb. 16 at Reese Stadium.
