Yale Wins Ivy Scrimmages with 8-1 Victory over Harvard

New Haven, Conn. - The Bulldogs opened 2010-2011 play by winning the Ivy Scrimmages Sunday at the Brady Squash Center.

No. 2 Yale won two matches Saturday, defeating No. 33 Columbia 9-0 and No. 6 Cornell 6-3.  In Sunday's final, the Bulldogs topped No. 5 Harvard 8-1.

The victory puts the team in a good position heading toward regular-season play, which begins Dec. 4 with a home match against No. 9 Penn.

Yale hopes to challenge perennial power Trinity, the consensus No. 1 and 12-time defending national champion, for national supremacy this season.

The Yale women's squash team also won the Ivy Scrimmages this weekend, marking the first time in the tournament's history that both Yale squads have emerged victorious.
