  • Bulldogs Awarded Academic Honors

    The USTFCCCA recently released its All-Academic honorees for the 2017-2018 track and field seasons. The Yale men’s track and field team received team honors, as well as having two athletes receive individual honors. In order for a team to be named to the All-Academic list, it must maintain an average grade-point-average above 3.00 for the season. For an athlete to receive individual honors, they must either finish the indoor season ranked in the top 96 in the NCAA for their event, or compete at NCAA Outdoor Preliminaries while maintaining at least a 3.25 GPA.
  • Campbell Elected Captain

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men’s track and field team recently convened for their annual banquet, at which they elected their captain for the 2019 season. After all the votes were counted, outgoing senior captain Paedyn Gomes announced the results to the team: Gregory Campbell Jr., class of 2019, was selected as captain of the upcoming 2019 season.

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men’s track and field team concluded competition earlier today at the NCAA East Preliminary Round contested in Tampa, Fla. Today’s meet also marked the end of the 2018 outdoor season for the Bulldogs.
  • Laut and Reinhart Represent Bulldogs on First Day of NCAA East Prelims

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Two members of the Yale men’s track and field team competed today at the first day of the NCAA East Preliminary Round, hosted by South Florida in Tampa, Fla. Temperatures were as high as the level of competition, with the top 48 athletes from the east region fighting for qualification to the NCAA National Championships. The Bulldogs were represented by Austin Laut in the pole vault and Trevor Reinhart in the 1500m run.
  • Gomes, Laut and Reinhart to Compete for Bulldogs at NCAA East Preliminary Round

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Three members of the Yale men’s track and field team will be traveling to Tampa, Fla., to compete in the NCAA East Preliminary Round, which starts on Thursday. For each event, the top 48 athletes in the east region have been invited to compete at the meet, with the top 12 finishers in each event to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, held June 6 – 9 in Eugene, Ore. The Bulldogs set to compete this weekend are Paedyn Gomes, Austin Laut and Trevor Reinhart.
  • Seven Seniors, One Team Honored At Senior Student-Athlete Reception

    One team and seven seniors were recognized by the Yale Athletics Department at the annual senior student-athlete reception on Saturday at the Lanman Center in Payne Whitney Gym. The women’s golf team earned the Brodhead Award for the highest team grade point average. Claire Huebner (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) of the co-ed sailing team and Theo Miller (Brooklyn, N.Y.) of the men’s soccer team were the recipients of the Ford Student-Athlete Community Outreach Award. The Kiphuth Student-Athlete Distinction Award was presented to Carl Mansson (Stockholm, Sweden) of the men’s track and field team and Calleigh Higgins (Ogdensburg, N.J.) of the women’s cross country and track and field team. Kiwi Comizio (New Vernon, N.J.) of the field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams received the Amanda Walton Award, and Courtney Pensavalle (Winchester, Mass.) and Jason Alessi (Bloomfield Hills, Mich) were the recipients of the Molly Meyer Humanitarian Award.
  • Three Bulldogs to Compete at NCAA East Preliminary Round

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Three members of the Yale men’s track and field team have qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round, set to take place May 24 - 26 in Tampa, Fla. Athletes across the country compete throughout the regular season to set qualifying marks for NCAA East and West Prelims, and at the end of the regular season, the top 48 athletes in each event are invited to compete at the preliminary rounds. For all events beside the field events and the 5,000m run and 10,000m run, there will be a semifinal round followed by a final round, with the top athletes qualfying for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships to be held in Eugene, Ore.

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men’s track and field team finished competition earlier today at the ICAAAA Championships, hosted by Princeton. Today’s meet marked the end of the season for many Bulldogs, as they fought one last time to set personal best marks. 
  • Gomes, Macauley and Vaughns Honored with Team Awards

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Wednesday night, the Yale track and field team held its annual end-of-the-season banquet, in which three athletes were presented with team awards, recognizing them for their invaluable contributions to the team. The honorees included Paedyn Gomes, Kyle Macauley and Vincent Vaughns.
  • Gomes Awarded First-Team All-Ivy; Vaughns Earns Second-Team All-Ivy

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Ivy League has announced which athletes have been awarded All-Ivy honors, following the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships last weekend. All-Ivy honors are highly competitive to earn: to be named first-team All-Ivy, an athlete is required to win their event at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. Likewise, in order to secure a spot as second-team All-Ivy, an athlete must place second in their event at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. Two Bulldogs were announced to have earned All-Ivy honors after their performances last weekend.
  • Elis Focused on ICAAAA Championships and West Point Twilight

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men’s track and field team will be split across two separate meets this weekend: West Point Twilight set for Thursday and the ICAAAA Championships set for Friday through Sunday, hosted by Princeton. In past years for the Bulldogs, West Point Twilight has produced some of the fastest times of the season for middle distance and distance runners, as it is usually the last chance for them to secure qualifying marks for the NCAA East Preliminary Round. The ICAAAA Championships are traditionally very competitive, making it opportune for a final chance at NCAA East Preliminary qualification as well.
  • Gomes with Historic Race; Bulldogs Conclude Competition at Ivy League Heptagonal Championships

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men’s track and field team concluded competition yesterday at the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championships, placing eighth with 39 points. Princeton emerged from the meet victorious, having scored 178 points. While the Bulldogs were behind in team scoring, they still put forth a number of impressive finishes this weekend.
  • Bulldogs Hungry Leading into Day Two of Ivy League Heptagonal Championships

    The Yale men’s track and field team wrapped up the first day of competition earlier today at the 2018 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championships. Today featured mostly semifinal rounds of athletes competing to qualify for tomorrow’s final rounds, where points will be awarded to the top six finishers in each event. The hammer throw, javelin throw, long jump, pole vault and 10,000m run were the only finals contested today. Austin Laut was the Bulldogs’ sole scorer today with his fifth-place finish in the pole vault, earning the team two points.
  • Bulldogs Ready for Action at Ivy League Heptagonal Championships

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men’s track and field team will be traveling to historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia for the Outdoor Ivy League Heptagonal Championships this weekend, hosted by Pennsylvania. The Bulldogs have been preparing for Heps throughout the regular season, and they will be testing their skills this weekend against the best in the Ivy League. This meet will also serve as the last opportunity for the competitors to set qualifying marks for the ICAAAA Championships to be contested the weekend following Heps.
  • Bulldogs Finish Regular Season at Yale Springtime

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men’s track and field team completed its final regular season meet yesterday with the conclusion of the Yale Springtime Invitational. While yesterday’s meet marked the end of the season for many of the Bulldogs, the rest of the team will continue to gear-up this week for the Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships to begin on Saturday, May 5.
  • Bulldogs Ready to Host Springtime Invitational

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men’s track and field team will host the Yale Springtime Invitational this Sunday in final preparation for the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, which begin next Saturday. Most of the Bulldogs will be opting out of competition this weekend, however, in order to get in some final fine tuning at practice.
  • Bulldogs Find Success at Auburn, Northeastern and Virginia

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men’s track and field team competed across the country at three separate meets this weekend: The Virginia Challenge hosted by Virginia, the War Eagle Invitational hosted by Auburn and the Jay Carisella Coaches Invitational hosted by Northeastern. The Bulldogs all competed well at their respective meets and are looking primed for success with Ivy Heps only two weeks away.
  • Bulldogs at Three Meets this Weekend

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men’s track and field team will travel to three separate meets this weekend in search of high caliber competition, with Ivy Heps quickly approaching. The bulk of the Bulldogs’ sprinters will be at the War Eagle Invitational, hosted by Auburn in Auburn, Ala. The majority of the distance runners will be taking on a large field of schools at the Virginia Challenge, hosted by Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. The remainder of the Elis will be traveling north for the Jay Carisella Coaches Invitational, hosted by Northeastern in Dedham, Mass.
  • Bulldogs With 12 Victories at Harvard-Yale Meet

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men’s track and field team competed earlier today at the Harvard-Yale dual meet, falling to the Crimson 83 to 78 in what shaped up to be a very tight battle between the rival schools. Individually, the Bulldogs were victorious in the majority of today’s events: of the 19 events contested, 12 of them were won by a Yale athlete. 
  • Bulldogs to Host Annual Harvard - Yale Meet

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale men’s track and field team will host the annual Harvard-Yale dual meet this Saturday at the Dewitt Cuyler Track and Field Complex. Each year, this meet brings together the two rival schools, and it never fails to produce exciting moments. Yale will be fielding all of its top athletes, so this weekend’s meet will certainly be one not to miss.
  • Winter Academic All-Ivy Announced

    The Ivy League released its list of student-athletes selected for 2017-18 Academic All-Ivy honors in its winter sports today, and 10 Bulldogs were honored. The recipients were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages. Each institution nominated five men and five women from its eligible student-athletes.

    Able to read and write when he was just four, it’s no surprise Vincent Vaughns was precocious enough to ultimately understand a high percentage of those reared in his hometown, Sparr, Fla., seemed to place limits on what they could accomplish in life.

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men’s track and field team competed yesterday at the Mark Young Invitational, held at its home track. Temperatures were low and wind speeds were high, but several Bulldogs braved the conditions, taking the opportunity to get in some early-season racing.
  • Bulldogs Set to Host Mark Young Invitational

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men’s track and field team will host the Mark Young Invitational this Saturday at the Dewitt Cuyler Athletic Complex. This meet will be the first of three the Bulldogs will host at home this season; it will also be the outdoor debut for a few athletes. The first field event will begin at 10:00 am, while the track events will kick off at 12:00 pm.
  • Bulldogs Conclude Competition at Raleigh Relays

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Earlier today, the Yale men’s track and field team completed the final day of competition at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by N.C. State University. One Bulldog raced: James Lewis in the 800m run. His time of 1:55.80 is a solid start to his season. This weekend’s performances for the Bulldogs were impressive and telling of a good season to come.
  • Team Sets New PRs, Reinhart Finishes Runner-Up in 1500m Run

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men’s track and field team competed earlier today in the first day of the Raleigh Relays, hosted by N.C. State University. Eight Bulldogs competed today, with four of them setting new personal records. Trevor Reinhart headlined today’s races with his runner-up finish in the 1500m run, moving up from seventh to second with the fastest final lap of the entire field. His time of 3:45.11 is a fast start to the season, and it should set him up well moving toward the end of the semester.
  • Distance Squad takes on Raleigh Relays

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men’s track and field team will be showcasing its distance squad this weekend at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by N.C. State University in Raleigh, N.C. This meet will be a great opportunity for the Bulldogs to set new personal records and handle some top-notch competition in the warmer weather of North Carolina. When asked about the significance of this meet, Armstrong Noonan, who will be competing in the 1500m run, said, “Everybody competing is more than capable of setting a personal best time in their respective events and I think that's what we're looking to accomplish this weekend.”
  • Personal Records Fall in San Diego

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men’s track and field team began their outdoor season yesterday at the Ross and Sharon Irwin Collegiate Scoring Meet, hosted by Point Loma University in San Diego. The Bulldogs placed fifth of 12 teams, scoring 95 points. Navy won the meet with 224 points. In total, four Bulldogs were victorious in their events: Paedyn Gomes in the 110mH, Austin Laut in the pole vault, CJ McCord in the high jump and Vincent Vaughns in the 200m dash.
  • Bulldogs Open Outdoor Season in San Diego

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men’s track and field team will compete tomorrow at the Ross & Sharon Irwin Collegiate Scoring Meet, hosted by Point Loma University in San Diego. The Bulldogs have spent their first week of spring recess training together in California – enjoying the warmer conditions. Two weeks ago, the Elis concluded their indoor season at the IC4A Indoor Championships, following Indoor Heps, where they finished seventh. Tomorrow’s meet will kick off the outdoor season, which will culminate with the championship series of Outdoor Heps, IC4A’s, NCAA East Preliminaries and the NCAA National Championships.
  • Vaughns Breaks School Record in 200m Dash, Bulldogs Conclude Season at IC4A's

    NEW HAVEN, Conn. –  The Yale men’s track and field team fielded four athletes earlier today at the ICAAAA Indoor Championships, hosted by Boston University. Vincent Vaughns highlighted today’s meet, setting a new school record in the 200m dash with a time of 21.52. Vaughns broke the two-year-old record of 21.59, held by six-time Ivy League champion Marc-Andre Alexandre, class of 2017.
