Yale Faces Dartmouth & Penn Saturday, Columbia On Sunday

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – It will be a busy weekend for the Yale women's crew on the Housatonic River. The Bulldogs host Penn and Dartmouth on Saturday morning and then have a Sunday morning date with Columbia. Racing begins at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. The Ivy League Digital Network has the video on both days

Yale, which is ranked seventh in this week's CRCA national poll, is coming off a dominant performance at Cornell last Saturday. The Bulldogs won all five races by comfortable margins. Nevertheless, Will Porter, The Friends Of YWC Head Coach of the Bulldogs, isn't completely satisfied.

"Coming out of Cornell we have made a few adjustments and look forward to seeing how they work when we go live this weekend," he said.

Normally, the varsity eight of each Ivy League race has a cup associated with it. This year, though, a schedule change means no hardware will be on the line on Sunday. Yale, Columbia and Penn have annually competed for the Connell Cup but because they aren't facing off against each other on the same day this spring, the cup winner will be determined at the Ivy League Championship in May. The top finisher between Yale and Dartmouth on Saturday will take home the Class of 1985 Cup.

Saturday will be a busy day of racing at the Gilder Boathouse. Following the women's races, the Yale heavyweights meet Dartmouth and the lightweights battle MIT and Georgetown.
