RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. — After two intense days of competition, the Yale Women's Golf Team took 16th at the March Mayhem at The Farms tournament.
On the second day of the tournament, the Bulldogs competed in the 13th place bracket going head-to-head with Iowa. Junior Jennifer Peng started the day strong for the Bulldogs, firing two birdies and defeating Iowa's Sophie Liu. Senior Elisabeth Bernabe went back and forth with Iowa's Jessie Sindlinger, but ultimately lost the round by a point. Senior Sandy Wongwaiwate, junior Jayshree Sarathy, and sophomore Julie Luo have played consistently throughout the tournament and continued to perform during the third round. Although the Bulldogs had strong performances across the board, they lost the round to Iowa.
Due to chances of rain, the third day of the tournament was cancelled and the fourth round was also played today, which proved to be the best all around for the Yale women's golf team. In the final round of the tournament, the Bulldogs went up against San Fran. Bernabe fired birdies on holes 17 and 9, leading to a 7 up victory against San Fran's Samantha Gong. Peng also won her matchup against San Fran's Alison Lillie. The Bulldogs gave their best performance during the tournament during the final round, but were knocked out by San Fran.
