    An 8-6 lead early in the second half slipped away from the Yale women’s lacrosse team Saturday afternoon at Brown, as the Bears utilized an 8-1 run over a span of less than 15 minutes to seize momentum. The Bulldogs scored the final two goals of the game but got no closer, falling 14-11.

    Sophomore midfielder Sam Higgins (Shoreham, N.Y.), who helped the Yale women’s lacrosse team to a pair of wins last week, has been named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week. The league announced the award on Monday.
  • Bulldogs Top Canisius 17-7; Nixon Sets Ivy Draw Controls Record

    Highlighted by another record-setting day from senior attacker Izzy Nixon, the Yale women’s lacrosse team beat Canisius 17-7 Sunday afternoon at Reese Stadium. Nixon got seven draw controls on the day, giving her 297 for her career -- breaking the mark of 295 set by Nicole Daniggelis ’16 and tied last weekend by Dartmouth’s Kathryn Giroux. The Bulldogs also got six-point games from first-year midfielder Jill Gollob (6-0-6), sophomore midfielder Sam Higgins (1-5-6) and first-year attacker Olivia Penoyer (4-2-6). Senior attacker Addie Zinsner added a hat trick.

    There were plenty of big numbers posted by the Yale women’s lacrosse team Thursday afternoon at Reese Stadium against Niagara -- starting with the score, a 17-10 win. Behind that result were several standout individual performances, including 18 draw controls from senior attacker Izzy Nixon (one shy of the Ivy League record), eight points from first-year attacker Olivia Penoyer (5-3-8) and an eight-caused turnover/eight-ground ball day from sophomore midfielder Sam Higgins.
  • MAAC Teams Visit Reese; Thursday Game Now 3:00

    A pair of MAAC teams head to Reese Stadium this week as the Yale women’s lacrosse team looks to improve on its 2-0 home record. The Bulldogs host Niagara Thursday in a game that has been moved to 3:00 p.m. (ESPN+) due to the weather forecast. They host Canisius Sunday (1:00 p.m., ESPN+).
  • Bulldogs Fall at No. 12 Penn

    The Yale women’s lacrosse team opened Ivy League play on Saturday at No. 12 Penn, the defending Ivy co-champions. The Quakers utilized a quick start -- scoring the first 10 goals of the game -- en route to claiming a 15-4 win at Franklin Field.

  • Yale Beats Hartford 18-4; Record Day for Nixon

    The Yale women’s lacrosse team posted a dominant 18-4 win vs. Hartford Tuesday night, highlighted by an Ivy League-record tying 19 draw controls from senior attacker Izzy Nixon. The Bulldogs outshot the Hawks 53-7 and got goals from 11 different players. First-year attacker Olivia Penoyer led the Yale attack with five points (3-2-5). Yale did not allow a Hartford goal until the 28:35 mark of the second half.

    The Yale women’s lacrosse team hosts Hartford on Tuesday at Reese Stadium (5:00 p.m., ESPN+) in a game that was originally scheduled for Wednesday. With snow in the forecast for Wednesday, the game has been moved up a day.
  • Younger Bulldogs Shine in 18-7 Win vs. Quinnipiac

    Through the falling snowflakes at Reese Stadium Wednesday night, Yale women’s lacrosse fans got a glimpse of the team’s bright future in the home opener. The team’s 18-7 win vs. local rival Quinnipiac was powered largely by first-years and sophomores, as those two classes accounted for 17 of the team’s 18 goals. First-year midfielder Jill Gollob led the way with five goals.

  • Hulseman Picked Eighth in WPLL Fall Draft

    Yale women’s lacrosse assistant coach Molly Hulseman will have the chance to compete against some of the best players in the nation next summer, as she was recently selected eighth in the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League Fall Draft. Hulseman was drafted by the Upstate Pride on Oct. 30.

    The Yale women's lacrosse team welcomes 11 first years to the roster for 2018-19. The Class of 2022 represents seven different states and includes four midfielders, two attackers, one defender, one defender/midfielder, one midfielder/attacker, one midfielder/defender and one goalkeeper.

    With a core group of returnees that includes five of the team’s top six scorers from 2018, the Yale women’s lacrosse team looks to make the 2019 season a memorable one. One of the first steps in that process was choosing a captain, and the Bulldogs have picked one of the top returning scorers to lead them -- attacker Izzy Nixon (Greenwich, Conn.). She was selected by a team vote shortly after the conclusion of the 2018 season.
