NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women’s sailing team will have its fall season opener at the Toni Deutsch Trophy this weekend. MIT will be hosting the first women’s regatta on the Charles, which is known for unpredictability due to the wind being funneled by the buildings that line the river. After an incredible end to their season, the Bulldogs returned this year as national champions and hope to continue their hot streak into the fall season. With all but All Americans Natalya Doris '17 and Isabelle Rossi de Leon '17 returning, the team hopes to continue their success as well as develop the freshman class – one of the largest classes in team history.
Sailing for the Bulldogs will be sophomore Louisa Nordstrom and senior Caroline Colwell in A division. In B division, sophomore Chrissie Klingler will compete with freshman Cate Mollerus, who is making her first college regatta appearance.
The conditions are looking great for the Charles, with temperatures in the low 70s and winds from the north turning to northeast on Sunday at 9 miles per hour.
Racing begins on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and can be followed live at http://scores.
