Yale Drops Games To Indiana State & Mount St. Mary's
Carlin Hagmeier hit her first career home run but the Bulldogs suffered a 3-2 loss to Mount St. Mary's in their second game of the day in Clearwater, Fla.
Yale fell to Indiana State 15-3 in its first game.
Hagmaier's homer in the second inning gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead over Mount St. Mary's. Mount St. Mary's tied it with a run fourth, but Yale regained the lead when pinch runner Sydney Glover scored in the top of the sixth. Mount St. Mary's, though, scored twice in the bottom of the sixth.
Terra Jerpbak pitched six innings, allowing only two earned runs and striking out four.
Against Indiana State, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning with some nifty base running. Kennedy led off with a walk and promptly stole second and third. Laina Do also walked and then she and Kennedy executed a double steal to put Yale on the board.
More wildness from ISU's pitcher led to the second run. Jerpbak was hit by a pitch, Allison Skinner walked and Francesca Casalino walked to force home Do. Hagmaier's ground out plated Skinner to cap the rally.
Indiana State, though, answered with six runs in the second inning to seize control.
Kennedy finished the game with three stolen bases and also singled. Hagmaier and freshman Annie Tarte also had hits.
The Bulldogs play two more games on Saturday, taking on Butler at 9:15 a.m. and Western Michigan at 11:30 a.m.
