Bulldogs Fall To Manhattan, Colgate
Yale ran into a pair of hot pitchers on Tuesday in Florida. Stephanie Kristo pitched a five-hit shutout to lead Manhattan to a 3-0 win in the Bulldogs' first game of the day, and Jessica Hay tossed a four-hitter to lead as Colgate topped Yale 8-0 in game 2.
Yale had scoring opportunities against Manhattan. The best chance came in the fifth when Allison Skinner reached on an error, and Camille Weisenbach singled with two out. Shelby Kennedy followed with a single, but pinch runner Olivia Vinyard was out at the plate after a fine throw from the Jaspers' left-fielder.
Manhattan (7-7) scored twice in the second and once in the fourth.
Lindsay Efflandt pitched well for the Bulldogs, yielding seven hits and striking out two.
Rachel Paris had a double in the game for Yale.
In the second game, Colgate built a 5-0 lead after two innings and went to the victory.
The Bulldogs also had chances to score in this game, particularly early. Do (walk) and Paris (hit by pitch) both reached in the first but were left stranded.
The Red Raiders sealed the victory three runs in the fourth.
Yale plays at Jacksonville (2:30 p.m.) and South Florida (7:45 p.m.) at the USF Stadium on Wednesday.
