Bulldogs Drop Pair At FAU Tournament

Purdue Edges Yale 5-4, Florida Atlantic Wins

The Bulldogs nearly knocked off a Big Ten school at Florida Atlantic's Tournament, but dropped a hard-fought 5-4 decision to Purdue to start their second day in Boca Raton. Yale then fell to Florida Atlantic 5-3, despite a late rally.

Against Purdue, Shelby Kennedy went 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.

Yale had a 4-3 lead heading to the seventh inning, but the Boilermakers rallied for two runs.

Kortney Ponce knocked in a pair of runs and Olivia Vinyard stole two bases for the Bulldogs.

Carlin Hagmaier, Sydney Grobman and Katie Tews also had hits for Yale.

Florida Atlantic scored five runs in the first inning to seize control of the Bulldogs' second game of the day, which didn't start until after 10:30 p.m. and didn't end until after midnight.

Yale rallied for two runs in the seventh, including an RBI triple from Hagmaier but couldn't quite come all the way back.

Vinyard and Annie Tarte also knocked in runs in the game. Tarte finished 2-for-3 and also scored a run.

First year Maya Seifert and Phylicia Wilkov each added two hits

The Bulldogs wrap up play in the tournament on Sunday against LIU Brooklyn at noon.
