No. 5 Bulldogs Shutout No. 12 Colonials

WASHINGTON D.C. -- The Yale women's squash team defeated the George Washington Colonials 9-0 today, winning all 27 games. The win marked the end of a seven match road trip for the Bulldogs, who have now won their last three matches and are ranked fifth nationally.

The Yale women came out focused early on, grabbing all the momentum against the No. 12 Colonials. Yale freshmen Lucy Beecroft out-lasted Engy El Mandouh in the two spot. In a match that extended 69 points, the longest match of the competition, Beecroft won 3-0 (16-14, 11-6, 12-10). Fellow freshman Jessica Yacobucci also had an impressive performance in the eight spot (11-2, 11-4, 11-8). Sophomore Celine Yeap had the most lopsided victory on the day, outscoring Mary Jo Mahfood 33-12 on her way to a victory in the three spot (11-4, 11-5, 11-3).

Yale returns home next weekend to continue their Ivy League play. The Bulldogs face off against No. 4 Princeton on Saturday, Feb. 4, then play No. 3 Penn on Sunday.
