Finke, Yang and Zordani Pick up Two Victories Each
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's tennis team dismantled Boston University 7-0 on Friday at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs quickly took the doubles point after victories on courts 1 and 3. At No. 1 doubles, senior captain Tina Jiang and junior Elizabeth Zordani defeated Barbara Rodriguez and Remi Ramos 6-3. In the No. 3 spot, junior Carol Finke and sophomore Amy Yang overcame Madison Craft and Lily O'Fagan 6-3 as well. Although senior Caroline Lynch and junior Valerie Shklover lost their match against Sabrina Faybyshev and Iryna Kostirko, the No. 2 doubles pair was only narrowly defeated 7-6(8).
Finke returned to the courts to compete against Kostirko at No. 1 singles. After winning the first set, Finke dropped the second but came back in the super tiebreak to win the match 7-6(5), 2-6, 10-5.
The rest of the matches resulted in straight-sets victories for the Bulldogs. On court 2, Yang defeated Ramos 6-1, 7-5. Lynch and Shklover bounced back from their doubles loss – in the No. 5 spot, Lynch overcame Sophia Kryloff 6-1, 7-5, while Shklover met Faybyshev once more, this time sliding past her 6-1, 6-3 on court 3. Zordani also re-encountered her doubles opponent at No. 4 singles, defeating Rodriguez 6-3, 6-3. Finally, freshman Opala Dhingra cruised past Clara Falxa 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 6 spot.
