Bulldogs Take Doubles Point; Lynch Picks up Singles Win
PHILADELPHIA – The Yale women's tennis team was defeated by Penn 5-2 on Saturday.
The Bulldogs were off to a promising start after taking the doubles point. Although Penn won at No. 1 doubles, junior Carol Finke and sophomore Amy Yang defeated Ria Vaidya and Lina Qostal 6-4 in the No. 2 spot. To clinch the doubles point, Caroline Lynch and Sunday Swett overcame Marta Kowalska and Luba Vazhenina 7-6(5) on court 3.
In singles play, juniors Valerie Shklover and Elizabeth Zordani both played three-set matches but ultimately fell to their opponents. At No. 5 singles, Lynch fended off a comeback in her three-set match against Sarah Dreyfuss. With the match tied at 2-2 in the third set, Lynch emerged victorious in the tiebreak and won 6-1, 4-6, 2-2(5).

The Bulldogs will play their final two matches of the Ivy season at home next weekend. Yale will first take on Cornell on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. before ending the season with a match against Columbia on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
