NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's track and field team heads to Princeton this weekend to compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships. This championship meet brings together a plethora of schools all across the Eastern Seaboard in a regional championship. In order to qualify, athletes needed to meet a rigorous qualifying standard. This year, the Bulldogs will send four athletes to Princeton for the meet across two events on Friday.

The meet kicks off for the team on Friday evening with the women's 5,000-meter run, where three long-distance runners will compete in one of the larger finals of the meet. Sophomore Andrea Masterson performed very well at this meet last year, placing third in the final. Yet this time around Masterson, alongside senior Chandler Olson and junior Kelli Reagan, will compete against almost 30 athletes. Masterson has had a productive year, posting personal bests in both the 3,000- and 5,000-meter runs. At the Larry Ellis meet a few weeks ago, she posted an improvement of more than 30 seconds in the women's 5k. Going into this weekend as among the fasters athletes in the field, Masterson's chances look good for another successful ECAC race. Running in her final race of the season, Olson has also done well this year, dropping more than 20 seconds off her time in the 5,000-mete run.

Later on Friday evening, more than 25 women, including senior Emily Barnes, will toe the line what will likely be one large heat of the 10,000-meter run. Also running in the final race of her collegiate career, this will be a crucial moment for Barnes as she seeks to improve upon her performance in the 10k at the HY vs. OC meet.

Although meet kicks off on Friday evening at 5:20 p.m. for the 3,000-meter steeplechase, the Bulldogs will not compete until the 5,00-meter run at 5:40 p.m. A link to the live results of the meet can be found on this link.
