No. 2 Bulldogs Finish Third at Moody, Fourth at Storm Trisail

NEW HAVEN, CONN – The Yale coed sailing team sailed in a long extension of a hurricane arm this weekend making each event get windier as more races were completed. The team, split between two regattas, did well, finishing in the top five at both.

The weekend's interconference regatta was held at the University of Rhode Island and saw eighteen teams from all around the country, including teams from Florida, California and Washington State. The team narrowly missed winning the event, as they last race in A division dropped them back behind St. Mary's. Still, they finished second with just seventy seven points in ten races in each division. Sophomore Graceann Nicolosi crewing for junior Nicholas Baird finished third in A division, while senior captain Malcolm Lamphere, junior Kira Woods and first-year Sonia Lingos-Utley finished won B division, capturing victory in am excitingly windy last race.

The second group of Bulldogs went to Larchmont Yacht club, where they sailed a J124 in a PHRF format regatta. The team finished fourth, after an unfortunate first race disqualification for sailing through the start-finish line. Still, a good result for a team that has little experience on big boats. Driving the boat was senior Christopher Champa, crewing was senior Caroline Colwell, junior Dylan Dimarchi and first-years Adam Wolnikowski, Jacob Asher, Jonotahn Schwartz, Marting Tipton, and Emery Wallace.
