  • Spring Academic All-Ivy Announced
    June 26, 2019
    The Ivy League released its list of student-athletes selected for 2018-19 Academic All-Ivy honors in its spring sports, and 10 Bulldogs were selected. The 10 thrived in their sport and in the classroom, as starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages. Each Ivy institution nominated five men and five women from its eligible student-athletes.
  • Baird Wins College Sailor of the Year, Yale Sailing Receives Nine All-American Awards

    To mark an incredibly successful season, several Yale sailors were recognized with nation-wide awards after the conclusion of the national championship on Friday. The team collectively received five all-American awards, two all-American honorable mentions, and the college sailor of the year award.
  • Yale is Best Overall College Sailing Team for 2018/2019

    After sweeping podium positions at all three spring national championships, the Bulldogs took home the Fowle trophy for the top overall team in the country for the 2018/2019 season. Their commanding third, first, and second finishes at the women’s, team racing, and fleet racing nationals, respectively, were enough to top all other teams in overall performance when including a fourth and eleventh place finishes at the men’s and women’s singlehanded nationals in the fall by Nic Baird and Louisa Nordstrom, respectively.
  • Bulldogs Finish Second at Gill Coed National Championship

    The Bulldogs finished a close second at the Gill Coed National Championship, which came to a close on Friday. After a resurgent comeback from its sixth-place position after day one of the event, the team finished only five points behind the champions, the College of Charleston.
  • Yale in 6th at Gil coed Easterns

    The Bulldogs are in sixth at the Gil Coed Eastern Semifinals at Sail Newport with 154 points, just 4 points shy of the top five. The day began with a wind delay before 10 races were sailed in each division
  • Yale 2nd in Semis, Moves on to Nationals

    The Bulldogs finished second in the Gil Coed Eastern Semifinals at Sail Newport with 145 points, successfully qualifying for the Gil Coed Fleet Race Nationals.
  • Bulldogs Complete National Title in Style

    The Yale Sailing Team has officially won the Laserperformance Team Race National Championship with a 21 - 4 record.

    The Yale Sailing Team began the first day of the Gill coed national championship on Tuesday by competing in the Western semifinal.

  • Yale Strong Contender for Team Race Title

    The Bulldogs are set to compete in the 2019 LaserPerformance Team Race National Championship hosted by Brown University at the Sail Newport facility.
  • Yale Wins Conference Championship by 60 Points
    April 29, 2019
    The Bulldogs convincingly bested the top NEISA teams this weekend at the conference championship. They won by over 60 points, a scoreline which is nearly unheard of in two-division regattas, let alone at a championship. They also won several individual and team awards, demonstrating their conference dominance by commanding the NEISA award ceremony.

    This weekend the Bulldogs travel to Bowdoin College to compete in the NEISA fleet race conference championships. The top eight teams qualify for the national semi-finals in Newport in May.
  • Yale Has Mixed Results: Bulldogs Learn In Preparation for Championships

    The Bulldogs finished their final regular season weekend with mixed results while learning some important things heading into the conference championship and national qualifiers this weekend. The team finished sixth at the Admiral’s Cup, 14th at the Boston Dinghy Cup and 10th at the Morris Trophy. 
  • Elis Compete at 3 Venues This Weekend: Final Prep Before Qualifiers

    After winning the Ivy League Championship last weekend, the Bulldogs have one last weekend of warm-up events before their fleet racing qualifiers next weekend. The Admiral’s Cup and the Boston Dinghy Cup both showcase the best competition in the country, while the Morris Trophy allows the younger members of the team one last time to practice their skills in a regatta format.

    The Bulldogs won the Ivy Championship in a close battle with Harvard at home this weekend. They also placed sixth at the Thompson Trophy and fifth at the Central Series 4.

    The Bulldogs are back to focusing on fleet racing instead of team racing this weekend with several major events. The Elis will compete on the Thames River for the Thompson Trophy and on Mystic Lake for the Central series 4, while two teams stay home to host the Ivy Championships.

    The Bulldogs convincingly won the New England Team Race Conference Championship last weekend and secured a spot in the Laser Performance Team Race National Championship in Newport, R.I., in May. Yale’s strong second team won a tightly contested event at Tufts, while some of the youngest sailors competed at URI.

    After a tough weekend in barely sailable conditions, the Yale sailing team has been preparing for its first nationals qualifier of the season this weekend at Connecticut College. The second team of Bulldogs will compete at Tufts, while a young third Eli group fleet races at URI.

    The Yale sailing team placed seventh (tied for sixth) at the 38th Lynne Marchiando Trophy at MIT, finished fourth at the Jumbo Team Race at Tufts, and took 13th at the BU Trophy at Boston university this weekend.
  • No. 1 Bulldogs Heading to 3 Events

    The Yale co-ed sailing team travels to Boston this weekend to compete in the 38th Lynne Marchiando Interconference Trophy, where they'll strive to repeat last weekend's win against the top NEISA teams. A second team will compete in the Jumbo Team Race at Tufts, while a third team heads to the BU Trophy Fleet Race.

    The Yale sailing team won the Friis Trophy, finished second at the BU team race in Boston, and took 13th at the Vietor in New London last weekend.
  • No. 1 Bulldogs To Face Off Against Top New England Teams
    March 22, 2019
    This weekend, the Yale sailing team will finally test itself within its own conference. Their No. 1 ranked team will compete at Roger Williams for the Friis Trophy, while its strong second team will race at Boston University. In addition, a young team of two first years and two sophomores competes in a fleet race at the Coast Guard Academy.
  • Bulldogs Make National Statement at Graham Hall
    March 18, 2019
    The Yale sailing team came off its spring break training in strong fashion, winning the Graham Hall against most of the nation’s top teams. The Elis took down No. 2 Georgetown handily in their highly anticipated first meeting of the season, winning the race in a 1-2-3 combination, and made a strong showing against several other strong teams, including No. 3 Hobart & William Smith Colleges and No. 6 Roger Williams University.  
  • Bulldogs Compete in Florida and Boston

    The Yale Sailing Team competed in two regattas this past weekend. Young groups raced against top teams at the Rudkin Team Race in Florida and at the Ice Breaker Fleet Race at Tufts, where they truly broke ice off the boats before sailing. While the team had tough events in both locations, they are still shaking the rust off and will be looking forward to spring break training next week. 
  • Spring Break Begins with Elis Heading in Different Directions

    The Yale Sailing Team will be represented at both the Rudkin Team Race Promotional and the annual Ice Breaker Fleet Race this weekend. The former will be held at Eckerd College in Tampa, Fla., while the latter will be sailed in much colder conditions at Tufts University in Middlesex County, Mass. Many of the top-ranked Bulldogs will also be in St. Petersburg to practice their team racing expertise with distinguished Yale sailing alumni.
  • No. 1 Bulldogs Win First Major Team Race Interconference
    March 04, 2019
    The Yale sailing team entered the most events ever in its first full spring weekend of competition on March 1-3. A young team competed at its first team race regatta at the Hap Moore, while Yale’s second team took a shot at New England’s top competition at the Sharpe. Yale’s top team won the Bob Bavier in an exciting final race.  
  • No. 1 Bulldogs Have 3 Events This Weekend: Racing in South Carolina, Rhode Island and Connecticut

    The Yale Sailing Team will field nearly its entire roster at three regattas this weekend. The spring season’s first top-level regional team race event, the Bob Bavier, will be hosted in Charleston, South Carolina. In addition, NEISA hosts two competitive team race regattas, the Sharpe Trophy at Brown and the Hap Moore team race at the Coast Guard Academy.
  •  Bulldogs Have Success in Sunshine State
    February 24, 2019
    The Bulldogs notched their first win of the season on Tampa Bay this weekend. They dominated the competition with a 13/2 record, a significant step ahead of the next best team, Eckerd College, who had a 10/5 record.
  • Bulldogs Travel to Florida for Spring Opener
    February 22, 2019
    This weekend the Bulldogs open their spring season in the Sunshine State competing in the Mendelblatt Team Race at the University of Southern Florida. The sailors are excited to get back on the water and begin team racing.
