The Bulldogs dominated the showcase finals this weekend on the St. Mary's river, winning by 30 points at the fall season's most prestigious regatta. All 18 of the best teams in the country were competing, and Yale cleared ahead by a significant margin.

Meanwhile, teams sailing at Mascoma Lake at Dartmouth and on the Long Island Sound out of Fairfield finished ninth and eighth, respectively.

On Saturday the teams were met with a light to medium breeze in all venues. Sunday was the windiest day of competition so far this season, with gusts over 30 knots in some parts of New England.

At the showcase finals, Yale saw wind speeds from four knots to 25 knots throughout the regatta. The Elis showed their ability to adapt, leading the regatta after Saturday and growing their lead on Sunday.

"It showed that we have experience in the boats dealing with all conditions. In the lighter stuff we stayed more disciplined than other teams, and in the breeze our veteran pairs were great at controlling the boats in difficult conditions," said coach Martim Anderson.

This regatta is the same level as the spring nationals, so the commanding win is a great sign for this powerful Bulldog team.

In other news, Yale sailors Martin Tipton and Adam Wolnikowski finished 14th at the 505 East Coast Championship this weekend. This was a non-collegiate regatta, and the duo sailed against teams of very experienced older sailors.
