Yale Totals Season-High 16 Hits

Politz Earns Sixth Win

 

Providence, Rhode Island - Nate Adams went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead Yale to a 12-1 win Friday over Brown at Murray Stadium.

 

The Bulldogs fell 7-4 to the Bears in the second game of the doubleheader.

 

With the split, Yale remains in the lead (17-24-1, 11-7 Ivy) in the Ivy League's Red Rolfe Division. The Bulldogs will host the Bears in the final two games of the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Yale Field.

 

The Bulldogs are two games up in the division race on Harvard and Dartmouth, who are both 8-8 in league play and will square off this weekend for a four-game set.

 

In the opener on Friday, Harrison White capped a hot start with a two-run double in the first inning to put Yale up 3-0. The Bulldogs broke the game open with a six-run outburst in the fifth. Andrew Herrera highlighted the inning with a three-run double.

 

Simon Whiteman went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base, and White added three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs. Richard Slenker and Benny Wanger both drove in a pair of runs. The Bulldogs totaled a season-high 16 hits in the victory.

 

Right-hander Scott Politz (6-3) picked up another victory. He went all seven innings, scattering five hits and allowing one run.

 

In the second game, Slenker's RBI double and Wanger's RBI single gave Yale a 2-0 lead in the opening frame. But the Bears responded with seven runs over the fifth and sixth innings.

 

Slenker, Wanger, Brent Lawson and White all had two hits. White and Tom O'Neill both added an RBI. Mikey Sliepka and Tyler Duncan were both solid in relief for the Bulldogs.
