Junior Alex Stiegler was named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Stiegler, a Dallas native, struck out a career-high 14 batters without a walk in eight innings and earned the win over Stetson last Saturday.  He improved to 2-2 on the season and leads Yale with 30 strikeouts in 2019.

"So well deserved," Yale head coach John Stuper said. "I've never seen him better. He attacked  every hitter he faced, and had his entire arsenal working. 14 strikeouts. No walks. Very impressive."

It was the third time this year a Yale starter earned the league pitcher of the week.  Scott Politz has won the award twice after wins against New Mexico State and New Orleans.

Yale's Griffin Dey and Jake Gehri also earned spots on the weekly honor roll.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday for their home opener against Quinnipiac.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
