NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Alex Stiegler, fresh off a complete-game shutout over Cornell, was named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Stiegler struck out six, allowed five hits and walked three. It was the third straight start Stiegler pitched at least eight innings and earned the win.
"Alex continues to excel," Yale head coach John Stuper said of the Dallas, Texas native. "He has picked us up after losses multiple times this year."

After Yale dropped the first game of the doubleheader last Saturday, Stiegler, a righthander, went the distance and improved to 2-0 in league play. Simon Whiteman and Mason LaPlante also earned spots on the weekly league honor roll for the Bulldogs.
Yale (10-13) enters the week at 4-2 in the Ivy League after defeating Cornell on Monday afternoon. The Bulldogs took two of three from the Big Red, capped with a 7-2 win yesterday.
Yale travels to Havard this weekend for a three-game series. The Crimson are also 4-2 in league play.
Prior to the series at Harvard, the Bulldogs travel to Fairfield for a non-conference matchup on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Fairfield (12-13) defeated No. 22 UConn on Tuesday.
