NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Kumar Nambiar was named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.

Nambiar tossed a complete-game shutout against Penn, one of the top hitting teams in the nation.  The lefty allowed three hits, three walks and struck out five in the victory.

"Well earned," Yale head coach John Stuper said. "What a performance. Penn was second in the country in batting average going into the weekend. They were hitting .340 as a team. The lowest average in their lineup was .286. And he shut them down. On their home field. Amazing."

The award marks the third Yale starting pitcher to earn the award this season.  Scott Politz and Alex Stiegler both won the honor earlier this year.

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow at Sacred Heart at 3 p.m.  It marks the Bulldogs' last scheduled non-conference game of the season.

Yale is fresh off a three-game sweep at Penn.  With the victories, the Bulldogs improved to 8-7 in league play and 14-21 overall.
