Bulldogs, Tigers Meet Thursday
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale didn't have to wait long to learn its NCAA Tournament draw. The Bulldogs were among the first teams revealed during the selection show. Yale, the No. 14 seed in the East Region, will play No. 3 LSU on Thursday at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla.
The announcement drew a big cheer in the varsity room in the Ray Tompkins House where the team gathered with family, friends, alumni and fans to watch the selection show.
Yale will play in the first game in Jacksonville on Thursday at 12:40 p.m. The game will be televised on truTV.
The winner of Thursday's game faces the winner of the matchup between No. 4 seed Maryland and the winner of Tuesday's Temple-Belmont game.
LSU finished its regular season with a 26-6 overall record and were the 2019 Southeastern Conference regular season champions. The Tigers feature New Haven native Tremont Waters, who leads the team in scoring at 15.1 ppg.
"It should be a good game," said Miye Oni, Yale's leading scorer. "We thought that was one of the teams we had a chance to play. We'll watch film and be prepared."
The Bulldogs (22-7) earned the Ivy League's automatic bid to the tournament by knocking off Harvard 97-85 earlier on Sunday.
