Captain Of 2017-18 Bulldogs
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Makai Mason '18, who helped lead the Bulldogs to the first NCAA Tournament victory in school history, has signed a professional contract with Alba Berlin of Germany's BBL League.
Mason, Yale's 2017-18 captain, was a first team All-Ivy selection as a sophomore when he scored 31 points in the Bulldogs' victory over Baylor in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. That season he finished fifth in the Ivy League in scoring (16.0 ppg.), third in assists (3.8 per game), sixth in free throw percentage (.806) and third in minutes played (32.7 per game). His 55 three-pointers tied for the ninth most in a season in school history.
Injuries limited him in his final two seasons at Yale, but he spent last year as a grad transfer at Baylor where he was selected to the All-Big 12 second team and led the Bears in scoring (14.9 ppg.).
Mason, who holds both German and U.S. citizenships, played for the German National team in the summer of 2016.
With Alba Berlin, Mason will face former Yale teammate Justin Sears '16, who plays for Oldenburg in the BBL.
