Yale WR Candidate for National POY

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale receiver Reed Klubnik is on the watch list for the STATS FCS Walter Payton Award. The senior, who was a first-team All-Ivy League pick in 2018 after breaking the school record for receiving yards in a season, is one of 25 on the pre-season list for the nation's top offensive player.

Klubnik, a 2019 pre-season STATS FCS 3rd Team All-American, was first-team All-New England last fall while leading the Bulldogs with 73 catches and 1,143. He was fifth among all FCS players with 114.3 yards per game while finishing seventh in receptions (7.3) and ninth in total receiving yards. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound target led the Ivy League in all those categories as a 10-game starter who earned team MVP (Ted Blair Award) honors while hauling in spirals from three different quarterbacks. Klubnik's season and career-highs were 13 catches (from Kurt Rawlings) against Dartmouth and 234 yards (on just 8 receptions, 29.3 avg., from Griffin O'Connor) vs. Princeton.

The Austin, Texas, native has also made an impact on the school career records; his 1,625 yards are sixth while the 117 catches and 13 TDs are seventh at Yale.

Klubnik's Elis embark on their 147th season this fall, opening with Holy Cross at home on Sept. 21.
