NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After finishing in the top five at the Ivy League Championship, senior and captain James Nicholas and sophomore Teddy Zinsner are headed to California to compete in the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships. On Wednesday, the full field for the six 54-hole regional tournaments was announced which included the pair of first team All-Ivy selections qualifying to play at the Stanford Regional as individuals.
Play begins on May 13 and continues through May 15 at Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif., where Nicholas and Zinsner will compete against 13 teams and eight other individuals. The Stanford Regional boasts top-tier squads such as No. 2 Arizona State, No. 12 Stanford and No. 14 LSU which will vie to finish fifth or higher as a team at the three-day event to earn a spot at Nationals. The lowest scoring individual not affiliated with one of the qualified teams at the Stanford Regional will also qualify for the 2019 NCAA Men's Golf National Championship.
