Reeves, Gaudet Earn Honor Roll

PRINCETON, N.J. – He tied an NCAA men's lacrosse record for the fastest goal to start a game when he found the net three seconds into the March 18 contest at home against Cornell. Conor Mackie followed that with a school-record 26 face-off wins and 18 ground balls at Princeton last Friday in Yale's 16-13 win. Today he was named Ivy League Player of the Week.

Mackie won 26 of 33 attempts and tied Brian Wilhelm '96 (at Penn in 1995) for the Yale record for most successful face-offs. His tally off the face-off to start the game against the Big Red tied the NCAA standard set by Delaware's Jordan Hall in 2006 against Albany.

The performance of the junior midfielder from Glen Rock, N.J., in his home state against the No. 13 Tigers, allowed the Bulldogs to register a season-high 47 shots while grabbing a season-best 54 ground balls.

Junior attackman Ben Reeves (Macedon, NY), Yale's All-American and Tewaaraton Award Finalist, took full advantage of that with four goals and four assists, which helped him receive league honor roll status.

Freshman attackman Matt Gaudet (Hamilton, Ont.) pitched in three goals to help the Elis up their win streak to three games and begin the Ivy campaign at 2-0. He also earned a spot on the honor roll.
