Two Bulldogs Named to Academic All-District First Team

Seniors Lead the Way for Elis in the Classroom

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Nicky Downs and Kyle Kenagy have excelled on the pitch for the Yale men's soccer team throughout their four years in New Haven. On Thursday, however, they were recognized for their tremendous achievements in the classroom. The two Yale seniors were named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Downs, an economics major, is now a two-time recipient of this honor, as he was previously named to this all-academic team during his sophomore season. On the field, Downs has recorded a career-high 12 points for Yale this season with four goals and four assists.

Kenagy, a mechanical engineering major, earns his first Academic All-District First-Team nomination. In his 13 starts in 14 appearances in 2018, the forward has scored three goals and tallied one assist for the Bulldogs.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will later be selected.

Downs and Kenagy will close out their Yale careers at Reese Stadium this Saturday against Princeton.
