Junior Earned All-America, All-Ivy Honors
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Spencer Lovejoy, who earned CSA All-America and All-Ivy League honors this winter for the Yale Men's Squash Team, has been voted captain for the 2019-20 squad.
"I am excited for the opportunity to lead the team next year. I am still learning every day, but I hope to help everyone on the team improve their game next year," said Lovejoy. "I hope to get everyone on the team excited to work hard, play for each other, strive for the same goals, and most importantly enjoy the journey and have fun with it. I think it will be a good year."
Lovejoy, a Branford, Conn., native who was a top-ranked American Junior while attending Hopkins School in New Haven, has been Yale's top player the last two seasons. Last month at Brown, he became the first Eli in 16 years to reach the semifinals of the A Division at the CSA Individual Championships.
"Spencer has been a leader since he arrived on campus," said Dave Talbott, the Brooks G. Ragen Director of Squash. "He is a dynamic player who finished in the top 4 in the CSA Men's Rankings, and he will be a great captain."
