Gaissert and Rutter ‘18 Face Busy Schedule on Day Three of Winter Nationals

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior Henry Gaissert and Jonathan Rutter '18 of the Yale men's swimming and diving team both had a busy day of racing on the third day of the US Winter Nationals.

Primarily a freestyle sprinter, Gaissert stepped out of his comfort zone to tackle the 100-meter butterfly and 200-meter freestyle. In both events, Gaissert swam personal bests with a time of 55.77 in the butterfly and 1:54.96 in the freestyle. 

Rutter had a big second day with finals swims in both the 200-meter freestyle and 100-meter breaststroke. In the 200-meter freestyle, Rutter swam a personal best in the morning prelims and finished sixth in the event at 1:51.26. He also qualified for the 'C' finals in the 100-meter breaststroke and finished at 1:04.74.   

The meet will continue Saturday morning and will conclude in the evening finals after four days of competition. More information about the meet can be found here.
