CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Yale men's track and field team concluded competition at the Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track and Field Championships Sunday, finishing eighth with a total of 30 points. Princeton took home the team title with 139.5 points, followed by runners-up Penn with 111 points. The two-day meet featured numerous highlights for the Bulldogs, including a runner-up finish in the pole vault by Austin Laut, a fourth-place jump by CJ McCord in the high jump and an exciting third-place finish by Nick Dahl in the mile.

Sunday's events included finals from Saturday's preliminary rounds, as well as the remainder of the field events. Dahl and Allen Siegler were the first Bulldogs on the track for the mile run, getting things started with a dramatic third-place finish by Dahl and a sixth-place finish by Siegler. Both athletes scored points for the team, and Dahl's time of 4:07.6 marked a huge improvement on his previous best.

Moving on from the mile, the 400m dash duo of Ekrem Ayhan and Juma Sei took after Dahl and Siegler, both making the podium. Sei placed fourth overall, as the top first year in the race, while Ayhan finished sixth. In the shorter sprints, Vincent Vaughns took home a pair of eighth-place finishes in the 60m and 200m dashes.

Will Laird ran a strong race from start to finish in the 1,000m run, barely getting out-leaned for a podium spot, finishing in a close seventh place. In the longest event on the track, the 5,000m run, Jonathan Lomogda (14th), Charlie Gardner (16th), Patrick Perry (18th), Brendan Murray (19th) and Cade Brown (22nd) all ran gritty races from the start.

The Bulldogs' distance medley team of Fergal Burnett Small, Cameron Wyman, Dahl and Siegler ran a great race, placing fourth with a time of 10:01.39. After, the 4x880 yard relay team of Robert Miranda, Harrison Smith, Alex Whittaker and Laird made the podium with a sixth-place effort. Finishing the weekend on the track for the Bulldogs were Chris Colbert, Connor Hill, Ayhan and Sei comprising the 4x440 yard relay squad which placed fifth in a competitive field.

In the high jump, McCord leapt to a fourth-place mark of 2.04m, concluding what has been a fantastic senior season for him. Jimmy Shih placed 13th in the triple jump with his mark of 14.25m. Andrew Rochon set a new personal best – his second of the meet – in the shot put with a throw of 15.27m, placing 10th.

Now, the Bulldogs will set their sights to the upcoming outdoor season, where they will look to improve upon this performance at the Outdoor Heptagonal Championships in May. Results from this weekend can be found here.
