NEW HAVEN, Conn. – First-year forward Camilla Emsbo (Lakewood, Colo.), who posted a pair of double-doubles last week for the Yale women's basketball team, has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. The league announced the award on Monday.
Emsbo started the week with 15 points -- including her first career three-pointers -- and 10 rebounds in Yale's 72-56 win vs. Saint Peter's Tuesday. She had 14 points and 12 rebounds in the game at St. John's Thursday, then added six points and five rebounds in the 58-55 win at Vermont Saturday.
This is the second Ivy League Rookie of the Week honor this season for Emsbo, who is second in the Ivy League in blocks per game (1.8) and is second on the team in scoring (11.3 points per game). She was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the week of Nov. 5 after scoring a season-high 21 points in Yale's Preseason WNIT game at Northern Illinois Nov. 8.
Emsbo was a five-star ESPN recruit out of Lakewood High, and ESPN ranked her as the No. 34 best recruit in the country (sixth-best at her position). She was the Gatorade Player of the Year for Colorado.
Emsbo is in Branford College at Yale. Her identical twin sister, Kira, plays for Princeton.
Yale plays at Army West Point Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
