NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the seventh time this season, first-year forward Camilla Emsbo (Lakewood, Colo.) of the Yale women's basketball team has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. The league announced the award on Monday. Emsbo has received the honor more times than any other player in the league this season.
Emsbo totaled 21 points for the week, including 12 in the regular season finale Saturday vs. Princeton. She totaled 12 rebounds, including eight in Friday's game vs. Penn. She blocked four shots Friday vs. the Quakers.
Emsbo also earned the Rookie of the Week honor for the weeks of Nov. 5, Dec. 3, Dec. 10, Jan. 14, Jan. 28 and Feb. 11. She is third in the league in blocks per game (1.8) and fourth in the league in rebounds per game (7.9). She is second on the team in scoring (11.0 points per game). Defensively, the six-foot-five Emsbo has helped Yale hold its opponents to a .364 shooting percentage -- the third-best defense in the league.
Emsbo was a five-star ESPN recruit out of Lakewood High, and ESPN ranked her as the No. 34 best recruit in the country (sixth-best at her position). She was the Gatorade Player of the Year for Colorado.
Emsbo is in Branford College at Yale. Her identical twin sister, Kira, plays for Princeton.
