NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference honored one member of the Yale gymnastics team in its weekly awards. Sophomore Jacey Baldovino earned Gymnast of the Week for the week ending Feb. 10.

"Jacey has made tremendous strides to over come a serious foot injury she suffered last spring. In the competition this past weekend, she competed in vault, bars, beam and exhibited floor. Her desire to come back in the all-around is incredible," said head coach Barbara Tonry.

Baldovino from Santa Clara, California has been a dominant force in Yale's lineup since her competitive debut as a first-year last season. This past weekend, Baldovino returned on all four events for the first time this season after coming from an injury. At George Washington, she claimed the second-place title on beam with a near-perfect 9.900 beam set competing against George Washington, New Hampshire and William and Mary. Her score propelled Yale to a 49.025 team score, which is the second-highest in school history.

"This is a well deserved recognition of her dedication and hard work. Through hard work and trust in her ability and coaching, she hit all four events and capping the meet off with a career-high on beam," said assistant coach Jason Collins.

Look for Baldovino to continue her streak of strong performances as the Bulldogs compete at home for the last time in the 2019 season Sunday at their Senior Day. They will take on Ivy Classic rival Brown in a dual meet.
