First-Year Forwards Push Elis to Victory

HANOVER, NH -- With the ECAC hunt heating up in the final weeks of the season, the Yale women's hockey team secured another two points, blanking Dartmouth 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at Thompson Arena. Junior goaltender Tera Hofmann pitched a shutout, making 32 stops on 32 shots.

The Bulldogs took the lead 12:04 into the first frame on an Emma Seitz power-play tally from the left circle. Yale's offense was persistent in the Big Green's zone, and Seitz buried home a huge rebound set up by Tabea Botthof and Emma Vlasic.

In the second period, first-year forward Kaitlyn Rippon found the net for the first time in her collegiate career to push the Bulldogs lead to 2-0. Rippon converted on a centering pass from senior forward Jordan Chancellor. Lauren Moriyama notched the secondary assist on the play.

Hofmann secured her third career-shutout between the posts on Saturday. The Yale netminder's save percentage improves to .919, and her goals allowed average drops to 2.58.

The Yale women's hockey team is back at Ingalls next weekend, hosting Quinnipiac on Friday and #4 Princeton on Saturday.

On Friday, the Bulldogs will celebrate National Girls & Women in Sports Day. Saturday's matchup is the annual White Out for Mandi game, honoring the legacy of Mandi Schwartz.
