NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's lacrosse team has earned the IWLCA Academic Merit Squad award for 2018-19 after posting the best team GPA in the country. This is the second straight season the Bulldogs have earned that award, which was announced by the IWLCA on Thursday.

The award comes on the heels of multiple other IWLCA academic honors for the Bulldogs, both individually and as a team. Last month eight members of the team were named to the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll for 2018-19. Yale also was named as an IWLCA Academic Squad, recognition that is given to all NCAA women's lacrosse teams with a team GPA of 3.0 or greater.

The IWLCA named four teams -- the team in each division with the highest team GPA for the year -- as Merit Squads.

The Bulldogs also were honored for academic excellence by the NCAA in May after scoring in the top 10 percent in the most recent NCAA Academic Progress Rate results.
