NEW HAVEN, Conn. - This weekend the Yale Women's Sailing team travels to Annapolis, Maryland, to compete in Navy Women's, the first official women's sailing regatta of the spring season. While many of the sailors have previously competed in coed events over the past few weeks, this is the first time the six athletes have competed together since the fall championship.
Navy Women's Sailors:
The wind forecast looks to be light on Saturday and light building to moderate conditions on Sunday. The Bulldogs are entering this regatta on a strong footing, having been ranked 2nd in the preseason rankings by a diverse panel of college sailing coaches.
In other exciting news, Yale was by far the most highly represented school on numerous Sailor of the Year watchlists released by the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association. The rankings, which in past years have shown remarkable accuracy in predicting award recipients, placed both Louisa Nordstrom and Chrissie Klinger on the Women's Sailor of the Year Watch List. The juniors skippers are joined on the rankings by fellow junior crew Graceann Nicolosi, who was named on the Women's Crew of the Year Watch List.
This weekend will be an exciting opportunity for the Bulldogs to showcase their skills.
Racing begins on Saturday and can be followed live at https://collegesailing.org/
