Scored Tying Goal Against Defending Champion Princeton
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman Aerial Chavarin made a habit of scoring important goals during non-conference play when two of her goals were game-winners, and she also tallied the tying goal late against Iona. The start of Ivy League play did nothing to change her knack for coming up big. Chavarin scored the tying goal at 73:44 as the Bulldogs earned a 1-1 tie with defending league champion Princeton on Saturday and two days later has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Chavarin is the league's leading freshman scorer with seven goals, which is third overall. It is the second time she has been honored this fall.
In addition, junior defender Carlin Hudson was named to the Honor Roll. Hudson anchored a Yale defense that held reigning Ivy League Player of the Year Tyler Lussi in check. Lussi, who is the league's fourth all-time leading scorer with 51 career goals, had very few good opportunities against the Bulldogs.
Yale (4-3-2, 0-0-1 Ivy) is back in action on Saturday at Harvard at 7 p.m.
