Assisted On Game-Winning Goal Vs. Columbia
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Aerial Chavarin, who played a key role in the most thrilling moment of the season – Saturday's overtime victory over Columbia - has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Chavarin dribbled through traffic and made a perfect lead pass to Geneva Decker, who broke in all and fired a shot through Columbia goalkeeper Allison Spencer just 2:17 into the extra period.
Yale had tied the game on Michelle Alozie's goal with 10 remaining in regulation.
Chavarin leads the Bulldogs with nine goals, five assists and 23 points. It is the third time this season she has been honored this fall.
Decker was selected to the Honor Roll.
Yale closes out the season Saturday at Brown at 3:30 p.m.
