  • Faherty Announces Class Of 2023
    May 10, 2019
    Brendan Faherty, who was named the Loring Family Head Coach of women’s soccer in December, will welcome seven first years to Yale in the fall. Giovanna Dionicio (West Hartford, Conn.), Simone Eligon (Croydon, England), Molly Fallek (New York, N.Y.), Chloe Laureano (Pembroke Pines, Fla.), Zia Makhathini (Henderson, Nev.), Lauren Marks (Addison, Texas) and Ellery Winkler (Concord, Mass.) all bring strong credentials both on and off the field.

    Thirteen Yale teams have been recognized for academic excellence after scoring in the top 10 percent of their sports in the most recent Academic Progress Rate results.
  • Four-Game Spring Schedule Announced

    Brendan Faherty, who was named the Loring Family Head Coach of Women’s Soccer at Yale in December, will get four opportunities to see his team in game action this spring. The Bulldogs have exhibitions slated against Providence this Friday, a home date with the North Toronto Soccer Club on Sunday at 11 a.m., at Army on Apr. 6 and at Central Connecticut on Apr. 12.
  • Fagel Excited To Captain 2019-20 Bulldogs

    Goalkeeper Alyssa Fagel has plenty of experience as a leader, having served as a captain for both her high school and club teams before becoming a Bulldog. She is now getting another opportunity after being elected captain of the 2019-20 Yale women’s soccer team.
  • School Of Management Hosting Yale Soccer Conference Feb. 9-10

    Elite leaders from all facets of business, sports and entertainment industries are coming to Yale’s campus on Feb. 9-10 for the Yale Soccer Conference, a student-led conference organized by the Yale School of Management’s soccer club, SOM United. The goal of the conference is to promote the role of management in the multi-billion-dollar soccer industry.
  • Martinez, Ayinde Join Faherty’s Staff

    Brendan Faherty, the Loring Family & Rudolph L. Meredith Head Coach of women's soccer at Yale, will have two familiar faces on his coaching staff. Sarah Martinez and Sade Ayinde, both of whom worked under Faherty at Stony Brook, will serve as assistant coaches at Yale.
  • Fall Academic All-Ivy Announced

    The Ivy League released its list of student-athletes selected for 2018-19 Academic All-Ivy honors in its fall sports today, and 10 Bulldogs were honored. The 10 were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages.

    Brendan Faherty, a Guilford, Conn., native, has been named the Loring Family Head Coach of women’s soccer at Yale. The announcement was made by Vicky Chun, the Thomas A. Beckett Director of Athletics.
  • Higginson Earns Academic Honor From United Soccer Coaches

    Noelle Higginson had a big season for the Bulldogs on the field, earning first team All-Ivy recognition. She also excelled in the classroom and has been named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region Second Team.

  • Three Bulldogs Earn All-Ivy Accolades

    Following the close of the 2018 regular season this past weekend, three members of the Yale women’s soccer team were chosen as All-Ivy honorees. Junior midfielder Noelle Higginson received first-team All-Ivy recognition for the second consecutive season, while junior forward Aerial Chavarin was named to the second team and senior defender Mackenzie Marsh was an All-Ivy Honorable Mention honoree.
  • Yale Drops Season Finale in Providence

    In a matter of ten minutes, a 0–0 draw turned into a 3–0 defeat for Yale in its final game of the 2018 season. A relentless Brown attack finally broke through against the Elis in the 52nd minute when Jennifer Caruso found the back of the net off of a blocked-shot loose ball in the box, and the Bulldogs could not regain their footing.

    Yale created a whole bunch of good scoring chances against Sacred Heart. The Bulldogs, though, just couldn’t quite finish them. The Pioneers, on the other hand, were much more opportunistic. The result was a 2-0 SHU victory on a chilly night at Reese Stadium.

  • First-Place Penn Edges Yale 2-1

    Yale did something that not many others have against Penn this season. The Bulldogs scored just the fourth goal the Quakers have allowed all season. It tied the score at 1-1 midway through the second half.
  • Penn Visits On Alumnae Day

    Yale erupted for a season-high six goals in Wednesday’s victory at Delaware State. The Bulldogs will need to be at the top of their game offensively again on Saturday when they host Penn. The Quakers have yielded just three goals in 12 games this fall.   • Bulldogs Cruise To 6-2 Win Over Delaware State

    It was a big night for the Yale offense in Delaware. Saje Brar scored twice and Aerial Chavarin and Noelle Higginson each added one goal and two assists as the Bulldogs rolled to a 6-2 victory over Delaware State. Ciara Ostrander and Lydia Shaw also scored.

    A perfectly executed corner kick helped Yale earn an important Ivy League victory over Cornell. Aerial Chavarin headed home Ciara Ostrander’s corner late in the first half as the Bulldogs edged the Big Red 1-0 in Ithaca, N.Y.

    A defensive struggle ended in heartbreaking fashion for the Yale women’s soccer team. Izzy Glennon’s goal with 3:56 left in the second half lifted the Big Green to a 1-0 victory at Burnham Field in Hanover, N.H.

  • Harvard Edges Yale 1-0

    Yale and Harvard played an even, back-and-forth 90 minutes Saturday night at Jordan Field. One moment was the difference, and unfortunately for the Bulldogs, it came from the Crimson. Jillian Wachira did some nifty dribbling through traffic and rifled a left-footed shot into the corner midway through the first half and Harvard held on for a 1-0 victory on a perfect fall night in Cambridge.

    The Bulldogs have plenty of experience playing away from the friendly confines of Reese Stadium this fall. Their first five games were on the road so they should be quite comfortable when they travel to Harvard for their first Ivy away game.   • No. 25 Princeton Knocks Off Yale In Ivy Opener

    One unfortunate bounce of the ball late in the first half went a long way in spoiling Yale’s Ivy League opener. Princeton’s Mimi Asom was the beneficiary as the rebound of a shot off the crossbar came right to her in front. She was able to push it into the back of the net to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead with just 20 seconds remaining. That got Princeton and Asom going, and the result was a 3-0 victory for the Tigers in front of a big crowd at Reese Stadium.
