  • Ricciardone Named Assistant Coach
    July 08, 2019
    Laura Ricciardone, who starred as a pitcher in the Ivy League and most recently helped South Florida to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances as an assistant coach, has been named an assistant coach at Yale.
  • Spring Academic All-Ivy Announced
    June 26, 2019
    The Ivy League released its list of student-athletes selected for 2018-19 Academic All-Ivy honors in its spring sports, and 10 Bulldogs were selected. The 10 thrived in their sport and in the classroom, as starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages. Each Ivy institution nominated five men and five women from its eligible student-athletes.
  • Goodwin Elected To MASCAC Hall Of Fame

    Jen Goodwin, who recently completed her seventh season as the head coach of Yale’s softball team, has been elected to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Hall of Fame.
  • Yale Honors Six with Awards at Senior Student-Athlete Reception

    Six seniors were honored by the Yale Athletics Department with awards at the annual senior student-athlete reception Saturday afternoon at the Lanman Center in Payne Whitney Gymnasium. Trey Phills (Charlotte, N.C.) of the men’s basketball team and Kate Zendell (Suffern, N.Y.) of the women’s cross country and track and field teams were the recipients of the Ford Student-Athlete Community Outreach Award. Carrie Heilbrun (Fairfax Station, Va.) of the women’s swimming and diving team and Simon Whiteman (Trumbull, Conn.) of the baseball team were the recipients of the Kiphuth Student-Athlete Distinction Award. Shelby Kennedy (Vail, Ariz.) of the softball team and James Kochanski (Colorado Springs, Colo.) of the men’s soccer team were the recipients of the Meyer Humanitarian Award.
  • Four Bulldogs Earn All-Ivy Recognition

    It was a successful season for the Yale softball team, and four Bulldogs who made significant contributions to that success have been honored with All-Ivy recognition. Terra Jerpbak was named the first team pitcher/utility, catcher Sydney Grobman and outfielder Shelby Kennedy were second team selections and outfielder Olivia Vinyard earned honorable mention recognition.

    Thirteen Yale teams have been recognized for academic excellence after scoring in the top 10 percent of their sports in the most recent Academic Progress Rate results.
  • Team Awards Announced At Postseason Banquet

    The Yale softball team gathered one final time at the spectacular Carol Roberts Field House for its annual post season banquet. Overlooking 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium, Head Coach Jen Goodwin reflected on a season that saw the Bulldogs post 10 Ivy League victories for the second time in the last three years, including a 7-1 mark on Sundays. In addition, the team awards were announced.
  • Tarte Elected 2019-20 Captain

    Annie Tarte has had the respect of her teammates from the first day she arrived on campus. She was selected as the Barbara Chou Leadership Award recipient after her sophomore season and has started every game at second base for the Bulldogs each of the last two years.
  • Four-Run Seventh Inning Lifts Yale Over Harvard

    Yale’s Sunday magic continued in the final game of the season. Terra Jerpbak pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief and went 3-for-4 at the plate as Yale rallied from a 5-3 deficit to defeat Harvard 7-5 in Boston.
  • Big First Game For Ponce; Bulldogs Fall At Harvard

    Yale nearly pulled off a big comeback in the first game at Harvard. The Bulldogs trailed 6-2 entering the sixth inning but scored twice in the final two innings before dropping a hard-fought 7-6 decision. The first-place Crimson completed a doubleheader sweep with a 7-1 victory in the second game.
  • Season Wraps Up At Harvard
    April 26, 2019
    Yale wraps up the season with a trip to Harvard this weekend. The teams play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game Sunday. Because of the forecast of early rain, Saturday’s first pitch is now slated for 1:30 p.m. Sunday’s start time remains at 12:30 p.m. Video of all three games is available on ESPN+.
  • Pitcher’s Duel Goes To Columbia 3-0

    Yale and Columbia hooked up in another pitcher’s duel in the third and final game of a rain-interrupted, three-game series on Tuesday afternoon at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium. This time it was Columbia’s Alexa Pinarski who came out on top. Pinarski tossed a complete-game two-hitter as the Lions edged the Bulldogs 3-0.
  • Conway Pitches Yale Past First-Place Columbia On Senior Day

    Nic Conway continued her stellar first year in the circle. Conway limited Columbia’s high-powered offense to five hits as Yale rallied for a 5-2 victory and a split of an Ivy League doubleheader on Senior Day at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium.

    Saturday’s softball game vs. Columbia has been postponed due to weather. The Bulldogs and Lions are still scheduled to play a doubleheader on Sunday, starting at 11:30 a.m.
  • Bulldogs Host Columbia On Senior Weekend; Weather Forces Schedule Change

    Yale wraps up the home portion of the 2019 regular season when Columbia visits 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium this weekend for a three-game series. Due to the weather forecast, the teams will now play a single game on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Sunday, with an 11:30 a.m. first pitch. ESPN+ has the video.
  • Clutch Hitting Lifts Bulldogs Over Sacred Heart

    Yale was at its best with two outs in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader with Sacred Heart. The timely hitting earned the Bulldogs a 4-1 victory over the Pioneers and a split of the two games. SHU won the opener 2-1.

    Yale’s Sunday success continued. Miranda Papes tossed a complete-game three-hitter as the Bulldogs rallied to defeat Brown 4-2 in Providence. Kortney Ponce went 2-for-3, including delivering an RBI single in the seventh inning that snapped a 2-2 tie.
  • Conway Tosses Gem, Bulldogs Fall At Brown

    First year Nic Conway pitched an outstanding game on Saturday. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, Brown’s two pitchers were just as strong. The result was a 2-1, eight-inning victory for the Bears to complete a doubleheader sweep in Providence. Brown won the first game 5-2.
  • Bulldogs Head To Brown For Three-Game Series

    Yale’s last Ivy League road trip couldn’t have gone much better. The Bulldogs scored 37 runs, hit six home runs and had 45 hits in a three-game sweep at Cornell two weeks ago. Yale hopes for more offensive success during its three-game series at Brown this weekend. The teams play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12:30 p.m. and a single game on Sunday, which also is slated to begin at 12:30 p.m. ESPN+ has video of all three games.
  • Bulldogs Bang Out 10 Hits In 8-5 Youth Day Victory Over Dartmouth

    Yale’s offense is back on track. The Bulldogs banged out 10 hits in an important 8-5 victory over Dartmouth before a big Youth Day crowd at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium.
  • Dartmouth Sweeps Yale

    It had been a bit of a slow start to the Ivy League season for a Dartmouth team that was picked to finish second in the preseason poll. Unfortunately for Yale, the Big Green broke out in a big way on Saturday. Dartmouth banged out 28 hits in sweeping a doubleheader from the Bulldogs, winning the first game 10-2 and the second game 11-3.
  • Key Ivy League Series Vs. Dartmouth On Tap, Sunday Is Youth Day At 5K Corral Field

    The Bulldogs reach the midway point of the Ivy League season when they host Dartmouth in a three-game series this weekend at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium. The teams play a doubleheader on Saturday with the first pitch slated for 12:30 p.m. and then have a single game on Sunday, also a 12:30 p.m. start. ESPN+ has video of all three games.

    A pair of Quinnipiac pitchers cooled off Yale’s red hot bats in a Wednesday afternoon doubleheader at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium. Brooklen Maguire tossed six scoreless innings in a 9-0 victory in the first game, and Lauren King limited the Bulldogs to seven hits in the second game, an 8-3 Bobcat victory.
  • Red Hot Bulldogs Host Quinnipiac

    The Yale softball team, coming off a dominant three-game sweep of Cornell over the weekend, takes a break from Ivy League play to host local-rival Quinnipiac in a doubleheader on Wednesday. The first pitch of the first game is slated for 3 p.m. ESPN+ has the video.
  • Ponce Named Ivy League Player Of Week

    It was quite the 2019 Ivy League debut for Kortney Ponce. Ponce, who missed Yale’s first six Ivy League games with an injury, returned to lineup over the weekend and promptly batted .700 (7-for-10) in three games as the Bulldogs swept Cornell. That performance has earned her Ivy League Player of the Week honors.
  • Three-Game Sweep Complete; Bulldogs Rout Cornell 10-1

    It was another big offensive day for the Bulldogs. Sydney Grobman and Kortney Ponce homered as Yale completed a three-game sweep of Cornell with a 10-1, 5-inning victory in Ithaca.

    It was a day to remember for the Yale offense. The Bulldogs hit four home runs, scored 27 runs and had 33 hits in a doubleheader sweep at Cornell. Yale won the first game 12-5 and cruised to a 15-5, five-inning win in the second game.

    The Yale softball team is set to embark on its longest trip of the Ivy League season. The Bulldogs are off to Ithaca, N.Y., for a three-game series at Cornell. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12:30 p.m. and a single game on Sunday, also a 12:30 p.m. start. Yale sits at 3-3 in league play after two weekends of play.
  • Bulldogs Drop Doubleheader To CCSU
    March 27, 2019
    Yale ran into a hot-hitting Central Connecticut team Wednesday afternoon at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium. The Blue Devils used timely hits to earn a 4-2 victory in the first game and then banged out eight hits en route to a 7-1 victory in the second game.
