Jerpbak Goes 3-For-4, Pitches 2.2 Innings Of Scoreless Relief
Yale's Sunday magic continued in the final game of the season. Terra Jerpbak pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief and went 3-for-4 at the plate as Yale rallied from a 5-3 deficit to defeat Harvard 7-5 in Boston.
Trailing 5-3 entering the seventh inning, the Bulldogs erupted for four runs. Senior Shelby Kennedy, in what would be the final at bat of her outstanding career, started the rally with a triple to left field. Annie Tarte followed with an RBI double to left-centerfield. After Olivia Vinyard's sacrifice bunt, Kortney Ponce's clutch, two-out single up the middle scored Tarte and tied the score at 5-5.
Singles by Jerpbak and Carlin Hagmaier, also their final at bats, loaded the bases. Pinch runner Olivia Sardoff scored on a passed ball, and Katie Tews followed with an RBI single to right field to cap the rally.
Jerpbak retired the side in order in the bottom of the seventh, including notching a pair of strikeouts, to earn the 24th win of her career. She also finishes with 301 career strikeouts, only the second Bulldog in school history to amass at least 300 strikeouts.
The Bulldogs were 7-1 in Ivy League games on Sundays.
