CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Yale women's squash team finished fourth in the nation at the Howe Cup Sunday, falling to No. 2 Princeton 8-1 in the final match at Harvard's Murr Center.

Many of the matches Sunday had close games, but Princeton's depth and ability to finish made the difference.  Helen Teegan played her best match of the season to win at No. 2, while No. 1 Lucy Beecroft fell to Princeton's No. 1, Olivia Fechter -- one of the the top three women in college squash -- in four.

Yale's win over No. 4 Stanford Friday, 5-4,  set up the finish in the top four and was the highlight of the season. The Bulldogs finished third in the Ivy League, with both their Ivy finish and National Ranking the best in the past four years.

The team's three seniors -- all four-year letter winners who played in the top nine throughout their careers -- played their last team match. Captain Jen Davis, Jocelyn Lehman and Selena Maity were all named Scholar Athletes by The College Squash Association.

"I could not be more proud of this year's team," said Dave Talbott, Yale's Brooks G. Ragen Director of Squash at Yale. "We had a great work ethic, improved all season, and finished in the top four for the first time in four years.  The three seniors were a huge part of this program for these four years, and they got us to the finish line for their best season.  On top of that, all three of them are 2018 Scholar Athletes which is a testament to all of them.  Yale University can be very proud of these three student athletes.  Yale Squash is  certainly indebted to Jen, Jocelyn and Selena for their dedication to the program"
