Teegan Advances to Semifinals

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Yale's representatives at the 2018 College Squash Individual Championships did their school proud in the tournament's quarterfinals on Friday evening. In their second match of the day, Yale sophomores Lucy Beecroft and Helen Teegan took on opponents in the top eight in their respective divisions.

Beecroft, who played in the top division of the championships for the Ramsay Cup, fought hard against Harvard rival Amelia Henley. The fatigue from the tournament-style play took its toll, however, and Beecroft fell in three straight games. She will not advance in the competition, but still holds a place as one of the top eight individuals in collegiate squash.

Teegan had an exciting match against Trinity's Jennifer Haley. The Bulldog moved well in the first two games, but failed to close with scores of 12-10 and 11-9 in Haley's favor. The momentum shifted on the third game, however, with an 11-8 win that carried Teegan through the fourth and fifth games to a confident victory.

Teegan will advance to the semifinal match in the B division North bracket, where she will play Elenore Evans of Harvard for a chance at the finals and the Holleran Cup.

The match will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and can be live streamed here.
